Traditions

Anyone who's followed my blog or knows me in person knows how important traditions are to me.

When I was a kid, traditions were my favorite part about holidays. I literally don't remember a single gift but, remember every Christmas as tho it was yesterday! My childhood Christmas traditions made it magical and the memories , some of my favorite .
When I was married before, we had traditions. I also loved these traditions and some were pretty hard to lose. An example would be my ex father in law would  always play his accordion and the kids would sing and dance. I looked forward to it every year.  I find myself a little sad while my kids are there celebrating with their family thinking about my kids and their cousins dancing around and I'm missing it !
Another is the Christmas Eve dinner. They are a polish family so, they had a traditional polish dinner.. periogies , soup, ham, sausage. It was delish and while it was odd at first it was something that I started looking forward to again on December 26th.
After the divorce the kids and I started a few of our own traditions and kept some of our old ones.
When I married my husband we thought long and hard how to combine our traditions and how to make new ones. Some how it worked . We were able to take traditions we were both used to and , make some new ones to fit our new family and new dynamics .
Our newest tradition that we absolutely loved and had just the best time was our Grinch Night.

We started the night with breakfast for dinner. Green eggs, green pancakes topped with strawberries and whipped cream and sausage!

After that we made green Krispy treats. Two kinds. One batch had  red hots to represent The Grinch and his tiny heart. The girls loved making them in their "Cindy Lou Who " dresses

After that while they cooled we watched the Grinch,  drank green juice, and painted our nails green!

It was a fun tradition and every kid thanked us several times for a fun night. The question is.. is it Grinch night every year? We talked about maybe picking a new Christmas movie every year and revolving the night around that night! We shall see. Either way it was a super fun night and a tradition we started as a new family.
We have a few ideas up our sleeves for New Years!
