Mothers day!
(before I get this post started, can anyone tell me why even tho I make my posts with paragraphs.. when I publish the post it jumbles together? This has happened since the blogger changed.. frustrating~)
I had an awesome Mothers Day.
I can't help but feel weepy on Mothers day!
I can't help but feel so blessed to be a mother and so thankful that the Lord has given me four amazing, healthy , beautiful , awesome...(ok, I'll stop but you all know you feel the same way about yours :P) Kids!
Aside from church we visited both of our moms. A long time ago, I got the idea from a friend to visit our moms on a different day other then Mothers Day. After all I am a mom. Going to church, rushing around to see our moms, then going back to church left very little time to spend with my children and, as we have said, I am a mom~
But this year we decided to do it...
We went and seen my mom and after a short time headed to my inlaws.
It was a nice visit.. do not get me wrong... but it wasn't Mothers day. My kids had a great time, I had a great time and my husband had a great time however.. we were not as a family.
My kids were busy playing with their cousins, I was chatting with my sister in law and my husband was shooting guns with his brother on his parents property.
These are great things. I love to chat with my sister in law, my kids Love to play with their cousins, and my husband LOVES to shoot guns with his brothers and hardly ever gets that chance.. But, it wasn't Mothers day. I wasn't spending time with my kids doing something fun and building memories with them.
So, I decided the ONE thing I DID want to do that day .. as a family just US was to have a fire in our backyard when it became dark. My kids being homeschooled and my husband working afternoons means that we can stay up late and nobody is worse for the wear.
So, that night, after dark... we had a fire! It was so relaxing and peaceful. It was so much fun to sit around with my kids and enjoy their company. Nothing to distract them or us from focusing on the family.
We told "scary stories" which, is always so funny because, my kids do not know what "scary" stories are or what they are supposed to be like. They tell silly goofy stories and think that they are what a scary story is. It is fun.
Abigail even curled up in daddys lap and fell asleep out there. It was peaceful , it was relaxing and it was fun!
It was the perfect way to end my Mother's day and I dare say.. we will be going back to spending Mothers Day how we have every year in the past. I get to see my kids every day YES.. but, not every day is it MY day to just spend with them. I have to school, go to the store, clean the house, cook ect ect ect.... Mothers day.. while having to dress them and make sure they are fed.. is the one day that I do not have to do ANYthing aside from love them (well and go to church but that is loving them ain't so?)
Here are a couple of pictures from our fire. (free pallets are awesome)
We read the entire chapter of Proberbs 31 Mothers day morning. I always love reading this chapter of the Bible and I get something new out of it every time.
I am far from a Proverbs 31 woman but, I do strive.... and I do pray that my children can call me blessed... not "cool" not "hip" not any of the new terms that kids want their mommas to be these days... but blessed!
1 The words of king Lemuel, the prophecy that his mother taught him.
2 What, my son? and what, the son of my womb? and what, the son of my vows?
3 Give not thy strength unto women, nor thy ways to that which destroyeth kings.
4 It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes strong drink:
5 Lest they drink, and forget the law, and pervert the judgment of any of the afflicted.
6 Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, and wine unto those that be of heavy hearts.
7 Let him drink, and forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more.
8 Open thy mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction.
9 Open thy mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy.
10 Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.
11 The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.
12 She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.
13 She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.
14 She is like the merchants' ships; she bringeth her food from afar.
The Excellent Woman
Proverbs Chapter 31 : 10
15 She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens.
16 She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.
17 She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms.
18 She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night.
19 She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.
20 She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.
21 She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.
22 She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple.
23 Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.
24 She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.
25 Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.
26 She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.
27 She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.
28 Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.
29 Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.
30 Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.
31 Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.
