Another Field Trip

The kids and I are blessed to have a pass to the local Greenfield Village.
Greenfield is packed FULL of amazing history. We love this place and could probably go every day if it were closer and I didn't work lol
I have a friend whom I met years ago when I would visit a church up in the thumb area while visiting my dad.
Instantly, she was a kindred spirit (as Anne Shirley would say)... Our friendship has built over the past 7 or 8 years and she is someone that I really feel blessed to call a friend...no,  sister!
We don't get to see each other often... in fact, until this week the last time I saw her was September when they had us to their home for dinner and an amazing time of fellowship. Her, her children and her sisters are the most giving and loving people I know. I know that when she says "I am praying for you" she IS in fact praying for me and, she is checking in to see how God is working out the situation at hand.
If I told her I liked her shirt, she would probably give it to me. Just a sweet sweet lady and I am thankful that I know her family and that God had our paths cross.
One hard part about having such an amazing friend who lives so far away is, when you do finally get to get together... afterwards it almost feels sad. We had an awesome time..But, when they went home, the kids and I couldn't help but say "I wish they lived closer" ... "I wish we could hang out with them more" But, we are blessed and VERY thankful for the time we do get to spend with them...
Anyway. we went to the Village. It was their first time. Overwhelming to be sure but, they (and we) had an amazing time.
I have always wanted to see the Laura Ingalls Wilder skit. We often are in a completely different area of the park when it is going on and, I have always missed it. This day however, perfect timing and we got to see it. Learned a lot about Laura Ingalls Wilder and after, "Laura" stopped to pose with our girls.

We saw the birthplace of William McGuffey. It is interesting that before becoming I had no idea who he was. I wonder how many people walk by this home and school and have NO idea who he is (I did before becoming a homeschooling mom)
Knowing who he is makes it that much more "cool" to me.

the inside was literally THAT small.

Noah Websters home!

This is a picture of his study

Would love to have a spot in the hallway like this.

This was a house that was occupied during the Great Depression. They had insulated their house with news papers and cardboard. Everything they had, they reused and saved. It was amazing to see how inventive they were.

Prior to the Depression, the father of this family was a Master Carpenter. SO they had amazing furniture

Bottle caps as their checkers.

You can't beat these history lessons!
There are more pics and more houses but, I will save them for next time.. Don't want to overwhelm :)
