Valentines Day!

SO, I never make TOO much of a big deal about Valentines Day.
My birthday is four days after Valentines so I never wanted much to do with it.. I mean, let's face it, I would rather efforts be put into my birthday :)
Anyway.. I do get the kids a little something and, they usually do valentines for their friends at church.
My church has "Show your love Sunday" every year and that is when people bring treats or cards or whatever they wish to their church family.
This year, we weren't at show your love Sunday since Abigail got a yucky cold! The kids were super bummed about this as you can imagine. Anna had made homemade Valentines for each church member and was so excited to give them to everyone.
Well, we couldn't be there but, my Pastors wife brought it to us. She left it on the front porch (can NOT blame here there) leaving us our special treats from her and her family!

Here the kids are eating their cookies from Mrs. Janice (she is my Pastors wife) .. these cookies are SERIOUSLY amazing. We look forward to them every year.

There were Valentines that my Pastors sons made for me and Abigail. I thought they were just the sweetest things EVER!

And .. YUM!!

Tomorrow we are going to a Valentine party at some home school friends house! I started work at 6 and when I got off I remembered "OH NO, I NEED A NON PEANUT TREAT FOR TOMORROW"
Off to the grocery store we went and here is what we came up with !

Marshmallows dipped in melted vanilla candy coating sprinkled with red sugar!  YUM

First we took the candy coating and melted it on the stove. The kids thought the double boiler fascinating...  I got a kick out of that.

Then I added purple food coloring. The intention was to add pink since, well Valentines Day but, I didn't have any. Since I always liked purple and red together, we used purple. I think purple and red are just as much Valentines as pink and red right?

Then, we dip the marshmallow into the melted candy!

after being dipped into the "chocolate" as the kids call it.. it gets a red sugar sprinkle!
Because, clearly a marshmallow dipped into melted candy isn't quite sweet enough!

(sorry taking an action shot of myself has not been mastered)

Rows and rows of yummy goodness

After they hardened (what a nice little crunch they have). We put them into zip locks that the kids decorated with stickers. I thought about buying already made Valentines bags but, figured the kids would like making their own and, they did!

The kids had SO much fun doing this ... the did it all but sprinkle the sugar..
They want to make me some special ones for my birthday next week! Pics will follow I am sure~
Here are some pics from our week:

Abs loves to sit at the vanity and play with my jewelry. She likes to take it off the holder and look through it. I remember loving to do this with my moms stuff. I loved to hear the stories about what this was and why she had it...

Gabe concentrating on school. You can see Storm and Rugers bodies in this picture... where the kids are, the dogs are NEVER far behind.

He didn't want to stop working to take a picture LOL

Abigail was "reading" to Kaleb. He wasn't really sleeping, he just thinks acting like he is sleeping in pictures is VERY funny... and, it is.. and isn't :)
