Homeschool Happenings (PICTURE HEAVY)

Homeschooling the past couple months (as I stated in my last entry) has been pretty basic stuff... Not much in the way of  bells and whistles.
Time hadn't allowed it.

My mom came through her surgery with flying colors and has been recovering beautifully at home. She is amazing. And, I am so thankful that God gave her such peace and strength.

So, with all that has been going on we have been doing a lot of basics and some carschooling ...

But, in all of the craziness that we call life we have managed to do SOME things fun and educational to boot...
We have made two museum trips this past month (one posted previously) and went to the zoo.. Both were SO much fun and always learn something new... here are a few pictures from our second museum trip and the zoo.

Look at this HUGE nest. Not sure of the bid but WOW

We also got some BABY CHICKS....

Here they are the day before Easter when we bought them. They were about
five days old

Here a few days later this little girl
"Flew the coop"
A few times in fact so we had to
revamp the cage.

And, here they are today. Not nearly as cute as they
were when we first got them.
They are all matted looking and wet looking
as their feathers are changing.
The darker orange ones are turning brown and
soon the light ones will be black. It is really fun to see how they change and
grow.. by October, we should start getting eggs
At least that is what the guy at TSC said.. The last time
we had chickens.. we got them full grown... this is our first time
dealing with chicks.

Here is the yellow turning brown

How much bigger the black one is now (the little escape artist)

The light ones still haven't started to change.

In keeping with the bird theme... the girls and I had an all girls day on Friday.
We had a picnic lunch (we ate chicken :P ) and we made bird feeders from
coffee cans...

And finally.. this week we are studying plants. For today, we decided to put some
seeds in a baggie with wet paper
so we can watch the Germination process
I will post pics of the process and we are notebooking it.
Here is day one.

That's it you say? Isn't that enough?
I really hope to be able to devote more time to blogging
I really love having things to look back on as we try new adventures!!!

You are doing an awesome job!!!

I want chicks. I think that would be so much fun. Mom and dad aren't down with that though. We mentioned it last week. We will just have to come see yours.
