Opps

Well, I missed thankful Thursday this week.  I will try and get it in this week since it is the last one before Thanksgiving!

Monday I will start bringing out my Christmas stuff. It will take me at least a week to get it all set up and the way that I want it. I LOVE this time of year (have I ever mentioned that?)

Last week in school we learned a bit about Veterans Day and being thankful.
We then made a "Thanksgiving tree" with our schoolroom tree. I took them each aside and had them tell me the five main things they were thankful for. I did this because I didn't want them to copy each other. All three said God first. They all had family and then the boys both were thankful for those who have fought for our freedom (I am sure this was because we were discussing Veterans)

This is a real live hero! AND I AM LUCKY ENOUGH TO KNOW HIM.
This is a gentlemen who attends my church. He earned his purple heart in the Vietnam War.
He was crippled in the war but, says that he is thankful for his injuries because , had he not been hurt he would have never come to know the Lord. What a testimony!
He is an amazing man. Always happy despite his physical issues. He is kind and sweet and we just adore him.
This is the purple heart that took him 40 years to receive (he just got it 6 months ago) ...
He isn't mad it took that long, he just shrugs his shoulders and says "That's the government for ya"

I have never seen a Purple Heart medal in real life. It was truly beautiful. It was hard not to get emotional seeing it... especially with him wearing it!

We had company over on Saturday evening for a little bit and I made a yummy dessert. I got the original idea from Pinterest and, because I do not like following a recipe, I looked at it and made my own version and so...here goes! TOTALLY YUMMY. My husband loved it.

First I cheated a bit, I used the break away pre-made cookie dough since I had had a scout activity earlier in the day ....
Anna mashed them all up in the bottom of the pan!

After pushing them into a buttered pan... we placed peanut butter cups on top.

and then, the best part (imo) ... pour brownies on top!

I put it in the oven at 350 checking it every 20 minutes or so.
I do not have an exact time because I was doing other things while I waited

It was easy, pretty cheap and yummy!!!!
