Anyway , as I mentioned this month we are studying the states and their flags.. So , after Bible, reading, spelling and Math... we study the sates.
We have taken the time out to learn about
Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida and Georgia
We have three worksbooks we are using for each state and after we finish reading about the state (facts, famous people who came from that particular state and state greats ... Oh and which number state it is) we then work on our book. Each child is making a book.. drawing the state and the state map each time we learn it.
It has been a great study thus far ( I know we are only a week in) but, I have really enjoyed learning things along with the kids.. Somewhere along the line I had forgotten that Delaware was our FIRST state.. in 1787 and that Alaska wasn't a state until 1959. I am sure that I studied all that in school at one point but, I hadn't remembered a lick of it.
I have been enjoying learning with the kids
Tomorrow we will have a very light day. I know, I know it is a Saturday but, when I did my schedule for the year (back in June/July) I completely forgot to factor in Labor Day. So, we are behind in our states for this week.
Jason is working and so tomorrow we will catch up on just the states. The kids will not mind, they enjoy this study very much.
Some pictures HARD AT WORK
Here they are coloring pictures to send to our Pastors
daughter who is on a mission trip to England.
Gabe's state/flag book
Anna's flag/state book
And Kaleb's flag/state book
Abby is working on her letters.
The first one I drew the lines and had her place the glued paper.
The second she did on her own and even
drew and A. She was so excited and probably
made 10 of these "I want to do it again" she kept saying
The one she did on her own.. Not sure
why these are sideways or why they
didn't fix. Sorry!
We even took some time to study a slug that was on our porch one rainy afternoon.

Do you want some Tennessee postcards?
I just found http://preschoolalphabet.blogspot.com that I'm going to use with Gracie starting next week. I'm very excited! We're going apple picking next week, a first for both of us.
Abby did a great job!
Ava, I thought of asking for post cards from people in different states. THAT WOULD BE GREAT. I will message you my address. THANKS
And that looks really cool. I will look into that for Abby! I am just trying to keep her busy while they are working
