Tip for putting away laundry

I just discovered a new way to put away my boys clothes. perhaps I am slow in learning this, perhaps it's common knowledge but, either way, I just discovered it.

My boys are VERY close in size and share one dresser. I put all of their shirts and pants and jams in the same drawers.
I have tried putting their clothes on opposite sides of the drawer His on one side, his on the other... but, they always get mixed up...

I hated when I sent them to their room and told them "get your red motorcycle shirt" or " your blue shark shirt" when I would go in later on the drawer would look like a bomb had exploded in it... then I realized it was MY fault. It was how I was folding the clothes. If I folded them like this:

then how would they KNOW which was the red motorcycle shirt?
in this particular pile there are two navy shirts and two red shirts folded on top of a yellow sweater vest... how could they know without unfolding them all to see which one had a shark or a motorcycle on it..... BUT... if I folded them like this :

then they could access the shirts easier!

They wouldn't have to unfold everything to get to the clothes I have instructed them to get!

That's a good tip! We don't use dressers due to lack of space. (We hang everything and put undies, socks and pajamas in a tote) I'm going to keep this in mind if we ever get dressers!
