We had a great time.. It was the perfect day... after going on a drizzly fall day, we decided that it was the BEST time to go... it was NOT crowded and we saw alot of things we have never seen! LIKE.......
Deer, we always hear that there are deer there.. BUT, we have never seen them... cant tell in this picture but, we were about 10 feet from a doe and her fawns.. My husband and kids actually went off the track and got REALLY close to them before they ran away.. my daughter almost touched a fawn... I was a nervous reck but they were excited.. and my husband seen no harm...
A Hawk (at least that is what I was told it was :P but also could be an owl?? I googled both and he looks like both) eating a RAT.... he would NOT leave his food and let me get THIS close to take his picture..... I have never seen one so up close before ( I had one on my back fence once) ... it was AMAZING... he just stood there , still as he could waiting for us to leave so he could finish his food. ( I spared you the pictures of his food at his feet.. pretty gross but neat at the same time)
the kids enjoying the Hawk (or owl) .. they were amazed!
Also almost a week ago , we went to the Abraham Lincoln traveling Museum... It was really neat!!!!!!
A replica of his hat!
Above was a replica of the train that He was on giving his good bye speech as he left for Washington to become president! They had a projector and a man speaking in it.. it was soo neat! I believe you can click to enlarge to get a better look!
My kids were very enthralled... when we left, Gabe had alot to say about what he had learned...
"Mommy did you know that Mr. Abraham Lincoln Log was a president?"
"Mommy did you know that Mr. Abraham Lincoln Log was shot in a movie Fee Ature?"
Ha ha ha ha..... Oh the things that boy says!

That looks like fun! I just love history, and nature! ;)
I linked to you through Valerie's blog! I laughed when I saw the Traveling Lincoln Museum, only because I am working late tonight on our huge Lincoln event for this Thursday here in Mt. Vernon. To celebrate his 200th birthday, my boss came up with the idea to put an 8 1/2 foot bronze statue of Lincoln as a lawyer, at our 5th Appellate District Courthouse which is the last active courthouse that Lincoln argued in. We are having huge festivities with the Illinois Supreme Court attending. I will be sure to blog and post pics after it is all over with! It will be an exciting day..but I have worked number Overtime for it!!
You sure got some great shots! I think it is better to go during school hours and when it's raining/drizzling~Sure kept the rift/raft down ;).
I hate when we are trying to see wildlife, and there are kids tearing up and down the trails on their bikes making a ruckus. :(
We can't wait to go back soon
