Grrrr.... Brrrrrr.....

It is SO cold here in Michigan. I am kinda over being stuck inside on these bitter cold days but, going out is not at all appealing when it is this cold out.
So, We went out yesterday and we got some provisions knowing we were going to stay in all day. While out, I needed to get a trash can. Mine split down the side and was no longer holding trash. I went to get a trash can with a lid so my dogs would stay out of it. They were 15 dollars~ I was bummed about this but, what could I do? I needed a trash can and , I needed one with a lid!

But, here is what I got instead

This is a wrapping paper storage can. Yes, that's right. Looks JUST like a trash can on the bottom but, has a much better top to keep the dogs out. AND, it was 6 dollars!!!! That is some huge savings. My trash bags are a little big for it but, I have to use them so, it is what it is... it keeps the dogs out of it , much better than the 15 dollar one would.
I will only keep the lid on it while we are away for the most part because it isn't exactly "attractive" but, it is very practical and cheap!

While looking around I found these tennis shoes for a dollar a pair! They are a little too big for Abs but, not for long . They are two different sizes and for 2 bucks I have shoes for her when she grows into them!
You can't tell in the pics but they are a cute coral color and grey!

We had tacos for dinner! GABE ATE GROUND BEEF... In not one, but TWO tacos!
WAY TO GO BUD!

Today we knew we would be inside so , I bought the stuff for the kids to make cracker bugs! The boys and I did this in scout camp last summer so, we thought it would be fun to do it with the girls today!

IT is pretty easy peasy.. crackers, pretzels and peanut butter. Oh and we used raisins at camp for eyes but, since only Abigail likes them, I opted not to buy them for this particular project.

You put peanut butter on one cracker..

Put the pretzels on the peanut butter

Put peanut butter on the other half

And, stick it to the the other cracker!!!!
Tada! Spider or bug, or whatever!

The girls enjoyed them .. they had NO idea what we were going to do and the boys liked being able to "tell them what to do" lol

After snacks and lazing around all day I made dinner. This is a dish that one of my oldest friends makes and I always love it. While at the grocery store the other day, I saw the sausage and called her right up to ask for the rest of the ingredients ( I had only made it one other time and it was awhile ago)
... It really couldn't be easier. One pot meals are my FAVORITE.
You need Sausage.. I used mild Italian

Peppers, I got one of each!

Olive Oil

And lastly Potatoes (oh and btw,  she adds onions and I do too but, for some reason, we could not find our onion ANYwhere)

Judging by the potatoes, you can see where I am going with this... Chop it all up, put it in the 9x13 , drizzle with olive oil and add salt and pepper to taste!

Put it in the oven at 400 degrees for an hour (stirring at 30 minutes)
I actually left mine in for an hour 20 on accident and it was still yummy and tender!
My plate~

Yes, that is a paper plate... don't judge me :)
I do not currently have a dishwasher in my new home and... well, who am I trying to kid, I used paper plates when I had a dishwasher too!

And finally, in the morning, my kids get up and get on the couch with me.. A lot of times they fall back asleep as I am reading my Bible or on line or dozing myself.
I thought the way these two were this morning was precious. I had to snap a pic! I still love to watch them sleeping!
