I Love fall, I love Spring, I love summer.... but I do not love any of these seasons as I do Christmas.
Now, I know Christmas is not a "season" ... but, Christmas does last a long time around here and, it is in winter, which, I do not love like the other seasons... So, Christmas is lumped in with the other seasons as a season- Hey it's my blog , I can do what I want to!
Now, I do love a good snowfall in the winter. Tho, the excitement about that is only until December 26th and then I start to long for warmer weather. Something about Christmas makes the short , bitter cold days bearable.. Once Christmas is over, that is an entirely different story. But, we can save that for another blog post!
It is December 2nd and that means only 22 days until Christmas Eve and 23 till Christmas. I am sure that most of you didn't need the math lesson but, seeing it just makes me excited!
Yesterday we walked into church all beautifully decorated. It was the perfect way to start off the month!
Today the kids and I started our "23 days of Christmas movies" tradition. OK, so it isn't really a tradition as this our first time trying this but, we hope it to be a tradition (does that count?).
We watched an old Christmas special tonight. It was a video we bought at the thrift store in their 3 for a $1.00 bin.
Between netflix, the library and what we already own I think we will have no trouble getting a Christmas movie in a day if time allows.
We also started "The Elf on the Shelf"
We don't do Santa here. But, I thought the kids would totally love seeing what the mischief the Elf gets into every night.. so far, they have had such a great time with it.... They know he isn't real, they know full well that I am the one doing the mischief but, that doesn't make it any less fun for them. In fact, the past few nights the last thing they say is "I can't wait to see what he gets into tomorrow".
His name is Timmy. My kids named him that after their Uncle Timmy. They are huge fans of Uncle Timmy and uncle Timmy is a fun uncle so, it fits.
Here is the trouble Timmy has got into the past few nights!
The first night, he ate the rest of our Hershey Kisses left over from Acorn making (more on that later)
The next night he opened up my nieces Christmas gift that was already wrapped and under the tree. Stinker!
And last night, he got into my lantern on my shelf. This is funny because my "pretties" aren't supposed to be touched ... and he was INSIDE lol
**Edited**
Last night Timmy got into the toilet paper.. the kids thought this was the best one BY FAR... they all laughed and laughed. Naughty little Timmy
I am not sure if I posted this but, 2 months ago our beloved dog Ruger ran away for his final time.
We have searched for him for two months with no avail.
He is chipped so we still have hope that he will come home one day. In the meantime however, we found a dog that needed a home.
His owner developed an allergy to him and was having asthma attacks as a result. It was a hard decision she had to make to get rid of her baby she had for six years but, her and I keep in contact and she gets pics sent to her of Storm.
He has had a wonderful transition. He is a great dog, a good protector and very loving.
He is obsessed with Anna and follows her everywhere. At night he does not sleep if he can not be laying with her. It is sweet. So, both dogs are not "Anna's" I do miss my Ruger as he was MINE.
Anyway, Storm is here and him and Prince are buds. Storm is about two of Ruger (can't tell in the pics) and so I worried about how him and teeny 15lb Prince would get along. They are pals. It is good for Prince to have a pal again.
Storm
He is a
Weimaraner
He just has the most beautiful silver coat.
We are happy to have him and Prince. Both were in need of good homes and we were in need of them. We still hold out hope for Ruger to return ... my heart breaks when I think of him being "out there". What will we do with three dogs if Rug returns? Love them! :)
Thanksgiving is over and it was an odd but good day. I am thankful for all of the festivities we have had throughout the month of November.. Thanksgiving is a wonderful time and, is followed up with.. CHRISTMAS.. :)
Here are my girls making acorn cookies for our church Thanksgiving dinner. They did them all on their own as my arm was a mess and I couldn't physically do them. They didn't mind though they felt like such big shots. They did a fantastic job!
It was Abigail's job to eat unwrap the candies and Anna put them together.
Bravo girlie's! They were so good too!
