My last post spoke about how we were placing our sons in a local charter school for some "issues" we were having with our youngest son... As it turns out, he just needed to be held back (which doesn't mean forever) and I am able to school them at home again.
They did great ... teachers were always telling me how great they were doing and all but, they HATED it.I mean there were things they did like, but, from day ONE asked to come home. We told them from the start if they didn't like it, we would bring them home. We made them wait it out two weeks.. it was a long two weeks for them but, after two weeks their plea was still the same "Can we be homeschooled again?" .
Every day I spoke with Kalebs teacher and it seemed that every concern I had about him, was unfounded. The problem was 1. he needed to be in first grade again (he wasn't ready last year) and 2. he didn't WANT to do it... so he acted as tho he couldn't.
In his pleas to come home every day I explained that he HAD to do as he did in school. He couldn't pretend he wasn't able since, I know he can now..... being in school has changed Kaleb as a student. It was a long two weeks but, Kaleb doesn't want to go back and so this week, I am homeschooling a new kid. He even asks for MORE work when school is over. .... he likes it now, especially math..... I am a very happy Momma!
It was a lesson learned for us all. I know that we will all work harder so that they don't have to go back again.! I am a homeschooling mom.... It is where my heart is. And I am thankful for the opportunity to do so! I am thankful that it is legal and that they are thriving ...
Anyway.. pictures to "catch up" from our first day till now!
Here is our first day (before the boys went to school) of school.
Abby was doing some work on my Kindle and she was just chatting with Gabe... I thought this was just SO sweet.
Day 2 (Gabe MAY or may NOT be wearing the same shirt as day one!... Hey, don't judge)
Before the boys went to school , we went to the Village on a field trip. This was by far my FAVORITE time at the village and, I just love that place. It was just the kids and I which, I am not sure that has ever happened before. It was really slow and so, we took our time and did some really fun things.
This was their first time petting a bull. They were fascinated .
Anna was chosen to help print a flier ...and she got to keep it!
we spent quite a bit of time in the glass blowing which, is my favorite but, we don't usually spend a lot of time there since it is HOT in there. Since it was a cooler day, and SO slow, we were able to hang out and watch for a while.
My kids were just sitting there like this and I snapped a shot. It looks staged but it was pretty candid... Kaleb makes me laugh, it is totally his personality
Abigail grabbed all of this like this and "read" them. It was so funny how serious she was about it.
While the boys were in school, I re-arranged my living room so that we could do school upstairs where it is bright and fun and ... comfy
*I realize my rug is too much for my chairs but, it was a free rug and it will do till I get a new one.. I want a solid one*
This is our "school room" now, it is working out great so far but needs "more" ... that will come with time.
Here was our first week back to school with all four back in the house. It went really well and as I said, Kaleb is a different student!
doing Language arts
Gabe doing spelling online!
And, after a day of school... this is how the school table looks....
I can't complain!!!!!!
A new plan on learning sight words for Kaleb.
The one in the blue is the one he is working on. When he learns that, it will join the other two and a new one will be put there....
So , those are are our SCHOOL happenings this month.
We have finished week five for Anna and the boys completed 3 ...
We have another field trip planned for next week! We are really looking forward to that.
We will be going with friends.... it is always fun to go with friends!

Wow, a lot has happened this month. I'm so glad God used the public school experience to teach you a few things and the boys also. Sound alike things are going great. Btw, I love your chairs and who can eat a free rug!
Love this blog! I am so glad everything is going well!
