Acorn... "cookies?"

Thanksgiving is over. I am always sad when it is over because I do so love it but, I also DO so LOVE Christmas time and I am looking forward to the upcoming season.

We had a great Thanksgiving day!

We spent the first half downtown at "THE" Parade. The parade downtown is a nationally televised event. I Have watched it on Tv every year since I was a child and LONGED to go my entire childhood.
Well this year, yesterday, my dream became reality. I got to take my kids! It was so much fun. I cant even explain how much fun it was for me... especially to watch my children to have so much fun!!!!

Here is Abby clapping.. She loved seeing the HUGE floats and seeing characters that she loves (like Elmo) in real life.

after the parade we went out to my inlaws for dinner. We had a really nice time. Dinner was typical Thanksgiving fair..
I made Paula Deans Corn Casserole.. YUM and I also made these!

Acorn cookies? (not sure what they are called)
I have wanted to make these for a few years now but, as I do sometimes, talked myself out of them that they were "too hard" but this year, I thought it would be something WAY fun for us to do together (the kids and I) and, I took the plunge. I found them TOTALLY easy way more so then I thought it would be. I was surprised. It took some time but, all the little hands I had to help made it quick work!
here is a mini tutorial I did... sorry, my son was taking these pictures :P
Here is what you need... Hershey kisses, chips (I used Cinnamon but Chocolate works great too) and mini vanilla wafers (and I also used mini nutter butters for some)

At first I took the kiss, applied the frosting (I used for times sake, the premade frosting that is used for cookies and such) and added the wafer

Then, I got wise and started dotting all of the cookies first and adding the chocolate after ;) MUCH easier and faster and kept the chocolate out of my hands for long so it didnt get melty.

then on the top add a bit of frosting for the chocolate chip

then add the chip

this was harder to do because the chips are so tiny but... I quickly figured out Little fingers work better :)

these were fun to make and a HUGE hit... :)
