From Baby Einstein , to Dockers!

I had planned this post, to be about the Baby Einstein recalls... the fact that their are people out there, who are actually outraged that these videos aren't really making their kids smarter... let me just say one thing about this.. I am not an overly intelligent person, just read my blog for a minute and see all my misspellings and mispunctuating.. or, even my made up words lol.... however, as horrible as my English may be... and as uneducated as one might think me to be... I can still hold my head up high KNOWING that I NEVER thought, that my children watching a video, of people playing with baby toys against a black backdrop with classical music in the background was going to make my kids smart! NEVER not ONCE... nope, never ever ever.... and yet, somehow there are a slew of people out there, that believed just that.... probably very smart people, probably some with very big degrees hanging on their walls...holding their hand out for their refund because they believed in this... Oh well, like I said, this isn't a post about that....

This is a post about a link that my friend sent me today.... a link to an ad by Dockers... to see the ad click here... but, I will post what it says as well...

ONCE UPON A TIME, MEN WORE THE PANTS, AND WORE THEM WELL.WOMAN RARELY HAD TO OPEN DOORS AND LITTLE OLD LADIES NEVER CROSSED THE STREET ALONE. MEN TOOK CHARGE BECAUSE, THAT'S WHAT THEY DID.BUT SOMEWHERE ALONG THE WAY, THE WORLD DECIDED IT NO LONGER NEEDED MEN. DISCO BY DISCO, LATTE BY FOAMY NON-FAT LATTE, MEN WERE STRIPPED OF THEIR KHAKIS AND LEFT STRANDED ON THE ROAD BETWEEN BOYHOOD ANDROGYNY.BUT TODAY, THERE ARE QUESTIONS OUR GENDERLESS SOCIETY HAS NO ANSWERS FOR.THE WORLD SITS IDLY BY AS CITIES CRUMBLE, CHILDREN MISBEHAVE AND THOSE LITTLE OLD LADIES REMAIN ON ONE SIDE OF THE STREET.FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE BAD GUYS, WE NEED HEROES. WE NEED GROWN-UPS.WE NEED MEN TO PUT DOWN THE PLASTIC FORK, STEP AWAY FROM THE SALAD BAR AND UNTIE THE WORLD FROM THE TRACKS OF COMPLACENCY. IT'S TIME TO GET YOUR HANDS DIRTY. IT'S TIME TO ANSWER THE CALL OF MANHOOD. IT'S TIME TO WEAR THE PANTS.

This ad, I have to say, made me want to go out and buy all my guys a pair of Dockers. This is a pretty bold ad in this day and age. Most companies want to fluff around and not "offend" anyone. I say, good for them for OFFENDING AWAY. Every statement in this statement is true.. its all FACT.. coarse, not all would agree.. some would think that woman should wear the pants.. Some would argue that little old ladies shouldn't be out by the street in the first place, instead, safely tucked away in a home somewhere.. . Others would think that children aren't misbehaving at all , only acting out to hide some deep emotional trauma that they had suffered.. maybe even in the womb!
Some would argue that we HAVE Heroes ... They would say , look at the Angelina Jolie's and the Brad Pitts.. they go around the world, feeding the hungry, they are Heroes.. all the while, spitting in the face (with lack of respect ) of a young solider who has risked his life for the freedom to worship these idols.. Never for a moment believing that THEY are true heroes...

I think this ad speaks volumes, I think that there should be MORE brave enough to speak the truth, even if it DOES cost them a penny or two, as I am sure that some are out there boycotting Dockers as I type this.....

I am honestly shocked that in this world where no one wants to offend anyone, that this ad was even considered. There is a lot of Bible in that ad. I mean, God wants women to be women and men to be men...distinctly. That ad just tells it just like it is. Good on Dockers! That is fantastic.

I with you on the Baby Einstein. I'm reading your post today thinking, "Wait, people actually thought that TV would make your kids smarter?" Bottom line, nothing works like Momma taking baby and pointing to an apple and saying "See? Red?" or drawing on the MagnaDoodle and having the little one find the circles out many other objects. Another symptom of our hands-off, microwave society.

Great post!!

WOW~that's awesome. We need more companies (people in general) with that kind of nerve, to tell it like it is...wonder if a woman wrote it? or a man? lol~I would love to know. If I had to guess, a woman...

Love the Dockers ad, but I'm still laughing about your assessment of the Baby Einstein videos. I once read where Einstein said the two most abundant elements were hydrogen and stupidity. LOL, you think?
