The first week of school!

Its OVER YAY!
My plan is to do five days a week MOST weeks but, 4 some. My curriculum is a 4 dayer but, I thought doing five when we can cant hurt... it will make up for all the times we take off for illness, vacation, ect ect ect. Oh and make up for the month we are behind :P
Anyways it went ALOT smoother then I had thought. Perhaps its because I have had such a great week, or maybe the homeschooling helped me to have a great week. But, regardless, we had a great week.
Anna had a little bit of a rough time at first with her reading workbook... Not because it was hard, but there are 4 pages per lesson and she did NOT want to do that much.
BUT, she is now smooth sailing and we start the day off with it and I think it made it much easier to bare.
I am not sure that I will stick with Rod and Staff for next year. I do love it... I think its GREAT.. but I dont know if I will buy the full curriculum.. I am thinking I might like to piece one together to fit our family better tho, Who knows, its only the first week, I could love it come next year.
Kaleb is doing great with his "tot" schooling which, this week has only consisted of coloring.. but, regardless it keeps him busy and out of my stuff ... this makes me happy.
Gabe is loving it, but he thinks his work is too "Babyish' he wants to dive right into reading while, the beginging is review.. and since he didnt have k5 I am not about to let him press on without it. He NEEDS it... Tho next week will be more fun for him.
Anna like I said likes it, I havent added any of the extras just yet... I think I will do that the week after next.. right now, I want to get the basics down.....

Here is Gabe doing his "baby' work.. You can tell that he isnt into it. But, I told him that he isnt allowed to color it like that anymore!

Anna hard at work doing English... its a lot of copy work but she likes it.

That's the biggest pro of homeschooling...setting your own schedule!!! I really push my kids from the first day to the first Friday of December. They get a LOT accomplished and then we put everything away and have a whole month of Christmasing!!! Baking, watching Christmas movies, visiting people, etc. Fun, fun!! LOL Then when we come back after the new year, we immediately start to focus on EOG testing, which is mandatory in NC.

Glad you had a great week!!!
:D

Miss you on fb...but I totally understand. Especially trying to school your kid's ages. They need a lot of "teacher" time right now.

Love ya,
~Kristi
