A day with Daddy

I have to say as a family, we spend ALOT of time together. we do almost everything together. My husband has 3 days off a week and we are usually doing this and that... but, not always is it
"quality" time..... alot of times its running errands and things of that nature... and while I do really appreciate when we DO do even the little things together, I am always really really thankful for the quality time as well.
Friday, our intentions were to go out to my husbands parents for the day. I do enjoy going out there but, not every week. I dont feel that its quality time. J usually does some work with or for his dad, the kids are off hanging with grandma and grandpa and I am usually sitting around trying to engage in all the conversation I can. It can be relaxing dont get me wrong.. the grandparents love when my kids come out and they want to do everything with them and for them. I do my best not to allow them to do things for them (like get there food and stuff) but they really do WANT to do it.. I guess, its a grandparent thing and I will understand one day???
At anyrate... obviously the kids enjoy there time out with grandma and grandpa but, like I said its not quality family time....
Anyways Js dad wasnt sure if they were going to be around and so, they said they would call us back and let us know... we decided not to wait.
We went off for the day, our first destination was the park behind our new house (LOL). We took the kids to fly the kites my mom had purchased for them. They had a great time until... they got tangled in the air and came crashing down... now, we need to buy new kites :( but, it was a GREAT time.
We left there and deciced to do something different.. but what? since we are an active family and do do alot together.. what is "different".. We talked about the beach, since the weather is getting warmer, we will not be able to go within TEN Miles of the beach here soon, but we opted not to go to the beach cause it costs money to get in.. and since we are buying a house, we are trying to pinch pennies.
At anyrate , we decided to go to the store, buy some lunch meat and such for a picnic at a local cidermill that has water....
We had such a wonderful and peaceful day.. the kids collected shells and rocks, got SOAKING WET :) fed the ducks..... they were filthy and exhausted but, had a great time.... I even got a bit of a sunburn :)
I am thankful for my husbands job that allows us to spend alot of time together as a family. I am also very thankful that my husband puts alot of emphasis on spending time with his family. Its very very important to him and for that I am thankful.
Once my friend Amy that someone she knew said that they wanted to be a memory maker to there kids... Obviously I want to be much more then that to my children but, A memory maker as well... I always appreciate when the Lord provides a beautiful day to do so and I am thankful that the Lord provided me with a husband with the same goal and a job that allows us to achieve it.
anyways... here are some pictures of our day~
Kite flying....

Now for the cider mill.....

Playing in the Sand.

there is a swift current ... it was moving pretty fast and suddenly we seen a couple of ducks floating down the stream.. it was commical to see how fast they were going but for whatever reason, they struggled to stop and stay put right in front of us. It was amazing since t hey had to work so hard to stay in the water so they didnt float downstream.

We decided to share our lunch with them...

Gabriel saying goodbye.....

I loved those pictures. They were so good. I know exactly what you mean about the quality time. And it's so important that we have those times together. Looks like y'all had a blast!
